Healthcare Administration

Accredited and online degree programs in healthcare administration

American National University offers three online health administration degree programs:

Medical coding specialists and medical front office staff play a vital role in the healthcare industry. This diploma program is designed to provide you with the skills to work as either a medical biller or a medical coder. You may choose to incorporate both career paths as some employers prefer having one person capable of performing both functions. Students will have the opportunity to take the Certified Professional Coder certification exam offered through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), the Certified Coding Specialist certification exam offered through AHIMA, or the Certified Coding Associate certification exam through AHIMA. Sitting for one (1) of these three (3) credentials is part of the assignment requirement for HIM210 Advanced Coding.

Health information management professionals affect the quality of patient information and patient care at each point of patient interaction. They are focused on the technical side of managing health information, working with electronic records, and software programs. Students will also participate in an externship, which offers further opportunities to apply learned skills and competencies. Students will have the opportunity to take the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification exam offered through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Our HIM degree program is accredited by CAHIIM.

The Medical and Health Services Management Bachelor of Science degree provides healthcare practitioners with the skills and competencies they need to function as managers and supervisors in health care settings. These students will need an associate degree, like our HIM associates degree, or certificate in an allied health discipline to enroll.

Join a Growing Career Field

What our Students Say

“I live in a military town, so there’s a lot of veterans around here, and I see what they go through to just get a visit with a specialist. Maybe there’s something in Health Information Management background that I can help spearhead it so that it’s not as hard for them to get through. They’ve already been through enough.”
